Pictures from Independents’ Day, Future Work and Upcoming Reading

I’m finally able to post the pictures I took from the 2012 Independents’ Day Festival.  Lately I’ve been focusing most of my free time on two very different novels—one murder/mystery, the other a children’s book in line with Diary of a Wimpy Kid (which is a brilliant series for all ages that I highly recommend).

I also pump out the occasional short story every now and then.  One piece was super close to making it into Asimov’s.  On the other hand, my short story Forever Lost was accepted into John Hartness’s The Big Bad Anthology which will be a collection of stories focused on bad guys.  I’m pretty pumped, because this one was a lot of fun to write.

For those who don’t already know, you can purchase The Memory Eater on Amazon for only $.99.  If you really like it, and want to help us feed our families, then you can always purchase the paperback, which looks really cool on display:)

Anyway, here are the pictures from the festival!

Me with the setup.

Me with my family.

The Memory Eater bird made a friend. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the parrot’s name or get its number.

Kim (author of the story "When Eva Braun was in Love") with her son. Kim made the very first book sale.

Chad (author of Insidious) acting totally normal. Chad was a huge help when a famous artist sat down not even twenty feet away from us and a mad rush of people came by.

This one is of me taking a picture of Brad (head of the Columbus Creative Cooperative) while he takes a picture of his setup. They were directly across from us.

Taken right after I set up.

Our view on the right where bands were performing.

And lastly, our view on the left. Many thanks to Sandra Gurvis (shading herself in the chair) for all of her hard work putting together the author fair!

On November 1, 2012, from 6pm to 8pm, Kim and I will be attending Paging Columbus at the Urban Arts Space building in downtown Columbus where we’ll be reading our stories from The Memory Eater.  Everyone is welcome, and encouraged, to join us.  I’m told there will be coffee, juice and cookies!
