You can get the Kindle version of The Memory Eater this coming week for free! Since Mondays are always so boring, the promotion will start on November 5th and end on November 6th at 11:59pm PST. This should spice up the start of your week, so don’t miss out on a chance to check out these 27 fantastic stories and accompanying illustrations.
For those who don’t know, I’ve been busy doing two things—working on my novel for ABNA 2013 and obsessing over getting a short story published in a top tier magazine. I’ve written half of the novel and finished a detailed outline for the remainder. As for the magazine hurdle, the last two rejections I’ve received were personalized and encouraging. The one from Asimov’s said they liked my story, but it wasn’t what they were looking for. That they looked forward to my next story. And the rejection from Ellery Queen said my story came close, but with the few spots they had, they didn’t think it was the best choice. To try them again with another story.
Overall, I’m pretty excited about moving forward. I can taste acceptance from my favorite magazines, and I believe the novel I’m working on is by far my best work to date.
On a final note, last night we had our Memory Eater reading with Paging Columbus. It was a lot of fun, and I got to read a story that was in the special edition called Ledges. Thank you to Chad and Kim for coming out and reading your stories. Honestly, you were both terrific. I also want to thank Hannah Stephenson for having us, and for videotaping the event. I’ll post the videos once she uploads them.
